The ongoing developments in e-mobility go hand in hand with design and technology when it comes to rim solutions. With a comprehensive product range, AEZ kicks off the spring season, being particularly well-equipped with regards to e-mobility vehicles. Mobility is a basic human need, and has developed over many thousands of years. At the same time, it’s a driving force behind advancement and development. The current transformation towards zero-emission mobility, i.e. e-cars, comprises all developments pertaining to cars, such as rims, for example. AEZ Leichtmetallräder, firmly established in the European aftermarket for more than 20 years, reacted to this transformation very early on. Ever since the first e-hybrid vehicles emerged, AEZ developers picked up the topic and developed it continuously. At present, the e-mobility focus is placed on many different rim designs, all with either VTA or ECE approval. Technically 100 percent verified, all models match the new e-cars, especially regarding their design, no matter whether they are designed as open double spokes or highly detailed multi spokes.
Design and technology in top quality for top-of-the-range e-vehicle
Weight plays an important role, especially for sporty cars. Therefore, AEZ offers their Steam.forged wheel in a staggered fitment in the dimensions 8.5x21 and 9x21 for the Model S as well as in 9x22 and 10x22 for the Model X, exclusively as a completely free-of-registration solution (ECE), for fully battery-driven Tesla cars. For Tesla’s Model 3, AEZ also provides ECE fitment. In the dimensions 18 to 20 inches, the AEZ Steam multi-spoke rim in the colour variations gunmetal front-polished and graphite matte is a perfect fit.
Tesla’s direct competitor, Volvo’s Polestar 2, has already demonstrated its potential in Scandinavia, taking the lead in the most recent registration figures. Like Polestar, AEZ is meticulous about design, hence offering no less than two free-of-registration wheel designs. On the one hand, the AEZ Panama, and on the other, the AEZ Steam.
Other flagships of fully battery-driven cars include Audi’s new e-tron and e-tron Sportback. With the Panama design, AEZ also provides a free-of-registration fitment (VTA) in the dimensions 19 to 21 inches. For the Jaguar I-Pace, a total of three wheel designs in the dimensions 18 to 20 inches are available. Not to forget the first fully electric model from Zuffenhausen – the Porsche Taycan. With the AEZ Panama, ALCAR offers a free-of-registration, and hence uncomplicated, rim solution in 20 inches.
Hybrid technologies
Hybrid drives are considered a bridge technology on the path from combustion engines to zero-emission drives that are steadily gaining more popularity. As long as there are fuel-driven cars the various hybrid technologies will prevail, and that will take a while. For the past few years, AEZ has been offering a large selection of rim models for cars with hybrid drives such as the Audi A3, Q7, BMW 3 to BMW 7, Range Rover plug-in hybrids, and many more.
And while we’re at it – the completion of wheels for the 2021 winter season is in full throttle. Owners of upcoming new entries such as VW ID.4, Volvo XC40 Elektro, Skoda Enyaq, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Mustang Mach E, Mercedes EQA, Mokka E, Audi Q4 e-tron or BMW iX3 will be able to choose from a wide range of rim designs.
