| RC44 AUSTRIA CUP: AEZ DESPITE A SHOCK STAYED STRONG The AEZ Team has been shot at the home event in Gmunden. Nevertheless, Rene Mangold and Co. were able to get ahead to fourth place. On the third day of the fleet race series, two further races were held with weak but stable wind. Artemis Racing had the better end for themselves both times, and with that the Swedish increased their overall lead. The AEZ crew around helmsman Rene Mangold improved to fourth place in the intermediate ranking despite a vast collision that left obvious traces in the rear of the carbon racer. In the first race of the day the AEZ men got it going perfectly and managed a mistake-free start cross and rounded the first track mark in second place. Then came the crash from downwind from AnyWayAnyDay.com. The Russian syndicate banged the AEZ racer during the course change in the stern and tore a 20cm hole in the frame. Mangold and Co. kept their cool and sailed a great third place into the goal. The damage, which luckily occurred above the water line, was given a makeshift repair in the break. The AEZ RC44 Sailing Team ended in eighth place in the following race. With that the home syndicate is in fourth place after seven rounds, currently missing only one point from the podium. The RC44 Austria Cup will be finalized tomorrow with a maximum of three more races. |

| Voices / Rene Mangold: "Although the wind was weak, it was a little more stable than the past few days. Nevertheless it was again extremely challenging from a tactical standpoint. We didn't let ourselves get out of rhythm, despite the collision, and sailed a very good first race. Also the second round was positive - the result unfortunately didn't mirror entirely our performance. The field is still very close together and the competition remains incredibly exciting. We still have all our opportunities to reach our goal, which is a place in the top half." Fleet Race/Intermediate Standings after Seven Races: 1. Artemis (SWE) 25 2. Ceeref (SLO) 36 3.
