UNREWARDED AEZ drives a risky line in the Match Race Competition in Gmunden and stays unrewarded with no more than a single point. The RC44 Austria Cup, third station of the Championship Tour 2012, was continued today with the Match Race Competition. After an initial slack, the wind came in the afternoon with 2-4 beaufort and got itself going. The outcome was full of exciting infights and was an overall brilliant promotion for the sport of sailing. The Russian syndicate Synergy, with the two-time AC Champion Ed Baird (USA) at the rudder, recorded four wins and further extended their lead in the overall ranking. The AEZ RC44 Sailing Team, who up to now in this year's tour could make six wins, had to settle for this time with the won duel against No Way Back (NED) and a single point. Although Rene Mangold, Christian Binder and Co. clearly had the lead in the three out of five duels, at the end the AEZ men failed with material or inconsequential tatics. Tomorrow the Fleet Race Competition will start with the King's Discipline in Gmunden, and 12 races will be finished throughout this upcoming Sunday.

Voices: Christian Binder: "The sailing speeds and circumstances were positive to have dominated three out of five runs. It's a shame that we sealed the deal only once. Basically we went too far from the opponent too often, we had handling problems and to top it all off we had a technical defect that cost us the victory against Artemis.
