| RC44 Championship-Tour 2012, Puerto Calero: AEZ Team gets a Second Win The RC44 Season is open, the Championship Tour 2012 is one decision old and Puerto Calero, where the first points were given, creates a desire for more from the view of the newly formed AEZ Cockpits. At the end of the nine race-strong series, the second win was sailed in. With that, helmsman Rene Mangold, newly acquired Markus Wieser (GER) and Lead Tactician Chritian Binder ended the Tour Start in 5th Place. The British Team Aqua pushed out of the running the AC Syndicates Aleph (FRA) and Artemis Racing (SWE) for the overall victory. |

| It was the anticipated start and a quite strenuous sign of life from the AEZ Aces that moved them brilliantly into a Top Field, thwarting several sailing stars. The four-time AC Champion Brad Butterworth, who is on board the Katusha (RUS), had to settle with 10th Place. No Way Back (NED) did not perform significantly better and landed 9th Place with the two-time Olympic medalist Ross MacDonald. With two wins, a third and three other Top 8 Rankings, the Austrian team succeeded very well. The fifth overall rank is the best result since taking part in the tour in 2009. The continuation finds itself on March 28th in Cascais (POR), next in Gmunden, then Traunsee and the highly looked forward to homegame (March 30 – June 3). |
Voices: Christian Binder (Trimm & Lead Tactician): “In every case the positive outweighs the negative, which we have demonstrated on multiple occasions, but we also know there’s still a lot to do. We have little deficits with strong wind conditions and concerning maneuvering, but the team has proven that it wants to show everyone now it counts to work on continuity and to further develop our material. Our emotional goal remains the home event on Traumsee. Until then more work waits for us, which we will take on with lots of motivation thanks to the fresh great outcome of events.” Markus Wieser (Strategist): “We can be very satisfied with the performance as well as the results. Puerto Calero was the confirmation that the team is absolutely in sync, and we still have room to improve, especially with such a huge appetite for success. Now it counts to build upon these really good successes and to stay with the top.” Final Results of the RC44 Puerto Calero Cup, FLEET RACE (9 Races): 1. Aqua (GBR) 36 2. Aleph (FRA) 47 3.
