RC44 Championship Tour 2012, Puerto Calero:
FLEET RACE, Day 2:

NO RHYTHM

Yesterday the wind was a bit too fierce, but today it was moderate and continuously changing direction, whipping the highly ranked international RC44 field around at Puerto Calero. The series is now at four races, with Aleph (FRA) and the two British teams Aqua and Peninsula Petroleum each having a win, the latter leading the fleet with three points. The Austrian AEZ Team had a discordant day and slipped back to 13th Place.

After the definitely successful performances in the direct duels and the solid start in the Fleet Race Series, the AEZ RC44 Sailing Team did not come out today like they wanted. At the end of the day they finished with a rather humble haul of tenth and two eleventh places. Meanwhile in 13th Place, they lack twelve points from being in the Top 6. The RC44 Puerto Calero Cup will be finalized on the following Sunday.
Voices:

Christian Binder (Trim & Lead Tactician):

“We had a hard time today with the wind patterns and could never really get ourselves into rhythm. Additionally, we had technical problems. The bowsprit wouldn’t come undone, then we had a runaway and couldn’t tack at the critical moments. Such mistakes at this high level will immediately be punished. Overall we have calmly analyzed today as unsatisfactory, but tomorrow we will get a new start.”

Intermediate Results of the RC44 Puerto Calero Cup, FLEET RACE (4 Races):

2. Aleph (FRA) 15
3. No Way Back (NED) 20
