RC44 ADRIS Cup, Roving, September 28 – October 2011

HEADWIND
The AEZ RC44 Sailing Team deviated from the racing line due to lack of precision.

On the second day of the RC44 Adris Cup the AEZ first-string team surrounding helmsmen Rene Mangold and Christian Binder had to taste defeat. Although they managed a sense of achievement with a fifth place ranking, due to errors the team made itself the remaining rounds were unpleasant for the Austrians. This caused them to lose ground in the intermediate rankings.

The British Team Aqua sailed out on top with two wins for the day, with the teams from Islas Canarias (ESP) and Artemis Racing (SWE) following behind. Oracle Racing slid back into fifth place and the AEZ RC44 Sailing Team ranks after eight races in twelfth place. The Adris Cup will continue tomorrow and be finalized on Sunday.

Alfred Pelinka (Trainer):
“We had an ideal start, a really excellent boat speed and plenty of good options. Unfortunately today the precision was lacking. In the end, it was a lot of minor details that played a major role. We have sailed three times on the right track to make a top three ranking and failed. If we take advantage of our opportunities then everything will look different. The margins are narrow and so much is still possible.”
