| RC44 Sweden Cup, Marstrand, 17.-21. August 2011 The RC44 Sweden Cup was off to a slow start. Today, only two of the three races could be seen through – at first there was too much wind and after that barely enough. Due to the strong current and unstable conditions, the races were increasingly difficult and the 16 crews had every physical and mental strength demanded of them. The RC44 AEZ sailing team was able to keep up with the Monohull-Elite very well most of the time, but in the end they had to content themselves with 9th and 10th Place. With that, the team with helmsman Rene Mangold is still in 13th place, and the British team, Aqua, has taken the lead after six races. The Regatta will be concluded with up to three additional races. Christian Binder (Tactician): “For the most part we sailed really well, but in phases we were too passive and didn’t manage to bring our performance level up to our goal. Basically the results are not bad, but more would have been possible today. At this level all the small details make a difference, and we’re up there but not quite where we want to be.” RC44 Sweden Cup, Intermediate Standings after Race 6: 1. Team Aqua GBR 31 2. Aleph FRA 35 3. Team Islas Canarias ESP 45 13. AEZ RC44 Sailing Team AUT 62 (15,1,13,13,9,11) Details: www.rc44.at
