Training conditions of the special class
RC44 Austria Cup 2011 can start at full speed tomorrow

The tension is rising, you can feel it at the Gmunder town hall square. The final preparations for the Harbor festival, at the RC44 yacht’s dock and the hot spots are almost done. Nothing stands in the way for tomorrow’s start of the “Grand Prix of Gmunden”.

Today idea and name provider Russell Coutts has arrived in the city. Oracle Racing set sail for the first collective training. Perfect conditions as in the previous days were at the Traunsee once again today. “Beautiful weather, perfect wind, shifty as always, wouldn’t change much if I could!” said Russell Coutts after today’s training.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 10th of May, it finally starts. At 11.30 a.m. the first practice races start and at 1 p.m. the long distance trophy, Grand Prix of Gmunden starts. Exciting scenes are expected at the shores of the Traunsee. The atmosphere is good in the teams, everybody is thrilled to be in Austria for the 4th time at the RC44 Austria Cup 2011.

The local AEZ RC44 Sailing Team and the title defendant Oracle Racing is leading the field. For the first time: manned by only French is the Aleph Sailing Team with Eigner Hugues Lepic and tactician Mathie Richard. Team Nika is also new in the RC44 circus with the Russian flag. Vladimir Proskhin tried a RC44 yacht as a guest on board last year and decided to join in the tour.

Perfect training conditions with strong, rotating winds, bright sunshine and cloudless sky is inspiring. Come to the Traunsee and be a part of it! Live tracking and Live pictures can be observed at the ORF OÖ stage. As of tomorrow you can also view live pictures via the online livestream
