|Lara Vadlau is Best Female Sailor 2010|
Lara was nominated as the most successful female sailor of the year 2010 by the Austrian Sailing Association (ÖSV). Not only that, but also as the youngest female athlete ever to be in the Olympic team.
The award was given to Lara with an honor speech by her trainer Christoph Sieber (Olympia Gold in Sydney) and the ÖSV president Dr. Kornfeld and received a huge applause from all the sailing club presidents of Austria. Christoph Sieber quoted an international sailing magazine, that described Lara as the biggest sailing talent in the world and pointed out all her incredible performances up to this day.
The title „Best Sailor of the ÖSV“ was given for the following performances in 3 boat classes: Youth Olympic Champion, European Champion, Vice World Champion, ISAF World Championship Bronze, State Champion, Youth Champion. The unbelievable performances after such a short period in the World Cup in her debut in Palma de Mallorca were also mentioned. The 17 year old was able to sail 4 top ten scores under extreme conditions. Among these was also a 2nd place, and this in the presence of all the top sailors such as the 5 fold female World Champion and the 3 fold female Olympic winner.
Thus the determinations made by sports director Fundak were confirmed, that he had chosen Lara Vadlau and had provided her with the whole program for the preparations for the Olympics in London 2012. Lara will sail the entire World Cup and will try to qualify for the Olympic Games in London in December. Because Lara still didn’t get any from the World Cup or just received them in Palma, like all the other top sailors, she has to get among the top 12 in Perth, Australia. The next possibility is in Barcelona at the World Championship; there she would have to be among the top 5! Lara received the best (and most expensive) trainer in the world from the ÖSV for this big undertaking: Mr. Toni Reppol (multiple Spanish Olympic winner).
