Austria’s Sailing Alliance Is Advancing
Austria’s Olympic sailors are advancing before Palma and are content with their first day.
While yesterday’s opening day had strong winds on a few courses, the second day of the Spanish World Cup showed itself from the light side. All courses were able to continue the qualification series.
The day proceeded very turbulent for Thomas Zajac and Thomas Czajka. The two athletes fought a bit with the wind and the consistency of their performance. They reached 12th place in the third round.
The 470ers newcomers Lara Vadlau and her partner Eva Maria Schimak start at a fast speed and had an early start. They sailed to second place; the second race was canceled and then started again. As 35th they sailed the finish line for the first time. Eva-Maria Schimack: "The second day was our first racing day. Unfortunately we were too aggressive with the early start. In the second race we were second. Then it was unfortunately canceled and we had to start again. But every day on the water gets us ahead.”
The World Cup before Palma will be continued tomorrow with the last qualification rounds.
