GAME OF PATIENCE

The AEZ RC44 Sailing Team has to put up with yet another material damage and fights hard before San Diego.

The Oracle Cup has three races in its pocket and as in the last days the Austrians remain unrewarded. After falling behind due to a further material defect the AEZ team sailed two seventh places. Rene Mangold and Co. are defending the ninth place, the Russian Katusha Team is currently in the lead.

Neither the team nor trainer Alfred Pelinka is satisfied with the current situation. On one hand because of the material damage and the unlucky race and on the other hand due to tactical errors there is no more chance for a place on the platform.
The twofold New Zealand AC-Champion, Peter Evans, made two little tactical mistakes which bring the local team from the top to the middle field. “We don’t have to be ashamed of seventh place in front of our competitors, still we mourn a better result. Today more would have been possible for sure”, says Pelinka.
„We work for our chances and gain the opportunity to set accents in comparison to the beginners. The improvement is becoming clear, if we wait patiently, then our performance will bring positive results.”

The Oracle Cup will be finalized tomorrow with three further races.

Current score after eleven races:
1. Team Katusha (Paul Cayard/Ian Baker) RUS 35
2. Team Aqua (Scott Young/Cameron Appleton) GBR 37
3. Oracle Racing (Larry Ellison/Russell Coutts) USA 42
9. AEZ RC44 SailingTeam (Rene Mangold/Peter Evans) AUT 91
