| No Sailing Day Due to instable wind conditions sailing was limited in the match race before Dubai. Austria´s nine are reacting to this very positively despite the situation. The required minimum limit of 5 knots(9,2km/h) wind were on today´s opening day of the Gold Cup before Dubai. On top of that it was not consistent. In the end the sailors were sent back to the port. „There was not much sense out there“, comments Alfred Pelinka to this decision, who let the trainer Binder and team sail a few training rounds. “To accept the circumstances is not a disadvantage, according to the weather report, tomorrow will be very similar” says Pelinka. Unlucky Drawing The originally planned channel (Round Robin) in which everybody competes against the other at least once, will be shortened to five drawn duels. Afterwards the four syndicates with the most points will sail for the victory in the category match race. “The shortest program is counterproductive for us, because we are at our biggest disadvantage” says mate Christian Binder sadly. “We are not up against a beatable syndicate unfortunately, but have to deal with big calibers.” Against Russell Coutts (BMW Oracle Racing), Dean Barker ( Team Artemis), Karol Jablonski (Team Oraganika) and Sebastien Col (Team Ceeref), altogether out of Americas Cup, the grapes are hanging higher than agains the Team Sea Dubai or the Spanish delegation. If the predictions are really true, the match race determinations will have light winds and here and there a strong wind tomorrow. It´s the exact conditions that the Austrians trained in today and which they know from the local lakes in the Alps. “It´s primarily about the better start in the match race and then about the control. If the wind constantly turns, it is very hard to control.” A newcomer could use this to their advantage. “We haven´t planned to hide and not even the drawings can change this.” Programm: 24.
