| Showtime! And AEZ is back again as the SPONSOR! Over 700 sailors from 16 nations will celebrate the Allianz Traunsee Sailing Week’s fifth birthday from Thursday and make Austria's largest sailing event an international bestseller. The Allianz Traunsee Sailing Week has turned into a huge event: twelve months of preparations, 600 helping hands and the cooperation of four yacht clubs are necessary to give the sailing spectacle the required scope. The reward of these efforts is a record amount of participants with over 700 active participants from all over the world, and the fact that with the RC44 class sailing races and their AC superstars they have landed a sensational coup. Start on Thursday From Thursday 22nd May, with the first start scheduled for 1 p.m., 16 boat classes will be sent round the course, their tracks spread over the whole lake, and directly in front of the Gmund Esplanade you can look over the shoulder at the work of Tornado, Joker and Laser experts. The Allianz Traunsee Sailing Week will again, as in the past, be orientated to transparency and imitability. There are no limits or barriers, the Sailing City is open to interested people for the whole duration of the event, and on top of culinary delicacies and up-close action it also offers expert live commentary. Numerous sports highlights Alongside the Plateau 25 Europacup, sports highlights of the first week are the state championship in the Tornado, H-boat and Tempest classes, as well as a range of regional championships. After 25th May and an official training and media day, the RC44 class and a distinguished selection of current America's cup greats will grace the event. Led by the BMW Oracle figureheads Russel Coutts, James Spithill and John Kostecki Olympic winners, world champions and local sailing experts will compete from 28th May for victory in the match, fleet and long distance race. Austria’s hopes rest on Christian Binder, Olympic qualifier Sylvia Volgl and Co., who are gambling on causing a sensation due to their home advantage.
