Ford Focus on AEZ Excite at the 24h race

Ralf-Udo Blöding, Elmar Brunsch, Wolfgang Förster and Sat-1 auto magazine presenter Kurt Lotz had big plans: they wanted to exist in the green hell of the Nürburgring and be at the forefront of the 24-hour race with an ethanol Focus, which would be travelling on elegant and sporty Excite rims by AEZ.
Crew and vehicle survived rain, storm and hail without complaint, but the bad news came at 3 am: an engine mounting was sheared off, as a result of which the engine/transmission unit tipped a little. The bitter consequence: the breakage of a drive shaft and the tearing off of an exhaust-driven turbocharger. The second place had to be given up. Nonetheless, the Focus crew was quite lucky under the circumstances, because the race was stopped just before 4 am due to fog and not continued until 9.30 am. Kurt Lotz and his comrades-in-arms struggled forward from the 4th to the 3rd place before the servo pump freed itself and the liquid ran out completely. Only with a lot of effort was Ralf-Udo Blöding able to navigate the Focus into the pit. The repair only took a few seconds, but a place on the rostrum was now finally out of the question.

The car reached the finishing line at 4.52 pm after 73 laps, proving two things: the eco-friendly ethanol and the chic AEZ Excite are not only absolutely suitable for day-to-day, but they also effortlessly withstand the 24-hour race. You can't say that about all components....
